Miteinander e.V. warns against neo-Nazi intimidation attempts
Following the neo-Nazi attacks on a screening of the film "You know, like in Rostock..." last Saturday on the campus of Köthen University of Applied Sciences, Miteinander e.V. has warned of the extreme right's attempt to occupy public space and dominate social debate: "The attacks by neo-Nazis on the event were not solely aimed at the young people involved. They were also meant to intimidate all those who are committed against right-wing and racist violence."
Filmmaker Kathrin Lemcke also commented on the attacks on Tuesday, saying, "Our film tries to show the perspective of those affected by the massive right-wing violence of the 1990s in Saxony-Anhalt. The right-wing attack on its screening is shocking and shows in a frightening way how right-wing structures and strategies continue."
The film "'Du weißt schon, wie in Rostock...' - Ein Beitrag gegen das Vergessen rechter und rassistischer Gewalt im Sachsen-Anhalt der 1990er Jahre" (You know, like in Rostock...) - A contribution against the forgetting of right-wing and racist violence in Saxony-Anhalt in the 1990s" was created in 2013 jointly by Miteinander e.V. and filmmaker Kathrin Lemcke in order to supplement the reappraisal of the recent regional past with the previously neglected aspect of violence against minorities.
The film is here available free of charge. Upon request, Miteinander e.V. offers a workshop to accompany the content.
