The AfD ahead of the state elections in Saxony-Anhalt
On March 23, 2021, the AfD Saxony-Anhalt presented its program for the state elections on June 6 under the title "Alles für unsere Heimat! On 62 pages, it unfolds a political agenda that clearly reflects the process of radicalization of the party in rhetoric and content. With our latest issue of miteinanderaktuell, we want to analyze the content, goals and guiding principles of the AfD in Saxony-Anhalt on the basis of selected topics and policy areas of the election program.
The content of the program confirms the radicalization of the party. Its language and content understand the political opponent as an enemy and defame him. It outlines an illiberal social policy and makes discriminatory statements about minorities. It is an expression of an identitarian understanding of society, culture and nations without room for ideological, lifeworld and cultural diversity. The AfD Saxony-Anhalt has given itself an election program that is oriented toward the ideological agenda of the "wing" that has officially been declared dissolved. Thus, the AfD state association is clearly positioning itself politically within the extreme right and will probably continue to act as its parliamentary arm in the coming years.
