Deradicalization and prevention in resocialization
The model project "RausWege. Deradikalisierung und Prävention in der Resozialisierung" qualified and supported existing regular structures of the independent help for offenders as well as the social service of the judiciary in Saxony-Anhalt in their work in order to develop and implement both preventive and intervening measures in dealing with radicalization for the target group of political right-wing extremism inside and outside the prison, especially in the critical period after release from prison. The project work provided impetus to support successful resocialization as a goal and task of all actors in the independent prison help system and the social service of the justice system, also with regard to prevention and deradicalization.
The aim of the project work was to develop and implement support, qualification and further training programs in the context of radicalization and right-wing extremism in close cooperation with the professionals. The jointly developed approaches were incorporated into the work of the regular structures of the criminal justice system so that the path to legal probation, i.e., not recidivism, could be accompanied from the outset in the spirit of democratic values oriented toward human rights.
The model project was carried out by Miteinander e.V. and the Landesverband für Kriminalprävention und Resozialisierung Sachsen-Anhalt e. V. (LKR). This cooperation enabled the multi-professional processing of the objectives indicated for the model project. In 2018, the network was supplemented by the Multicultural Center Dessau, which focused on radicalization processes in the area of Salafism/Islamism.
The project was funded by the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth as part of the federal program "Democracy Live!" and by the Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs and Integration of the State of Saxony-Anhalt as part of the state program for democracy, diversity and cosmopolitanism.
