Gardelegen under National Socialism

DATE

A picture and press review with local historian Torsten Haarseim

Under the question "What could people in Gardelegen know at the time?", local historian Torsten Haarseim will present documents from the period of National Socialism in the Hanseatic town on Tuesday, September 24, 2019, at 7 pm in the Gardelegen Library. He provides insights into the portrayal of military institutions in the press and approaches the question of complicity in the crimes of the Nazi regime on the basis of three local biographies.

The event is part of the program accompanying the exhibition "Some Were Neighbors: Perpetration, Fellow Travelers, and Resistance During the Holocaust" by the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. We present the exhibition from September 3 to 27, 2019 in cooperation with the Hanseatic City of Gardelegen and the memorial Feldscheune Isenschnibbe. The exhibition and accompanying program are sponsored by the Foundation "Remembrance, Responsibility and Future".
