Since the mid-1990s, the NPD has been trying to get itself talked about as a politically responsible partner in local communities by addressing local problems such as drugs, environmental protection and an orientation toward violence among young people. A serious appearance, which goes hand in hand with the avoidance of anti-constitutional formulations and the exercise of visible militancy, makes the NPD a political chameleon to which right-wing extremist objectives are not immediately recognizable. For this reason, there is a great need for information about the actual goals of the party, especially for political actors, employees of administrations and public institutions, journalists, and voluntarily engaged citizens.
